Over 1,300 medicines needed for dental clinics at government hospitals are in short supply, General Secretary of the Government Dental Surgeons’ Association (GDSA) Dr. Manjula Herath has said.He said the Ministry of Health had failed to supply the most essential drugs and chemicals for dental surgeries.

“Dental surgeries, including maxillofacial surgeries and dental restoration, at government hospitals have been adversely affected by the shortages of drugs, and equipment,” he said.

“We have handed over a list of 233 most essential items to the Ministry of Health.

The ministry has done nothing. We can only provide the most essential of services in many dental surgeries. However, if the ministry wants it can resolve the issue in two months,” he said. (RK)
