Chair of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Energy and Transport Nalaka Bandara Kottegoda on Wednesday (04) instructed officials of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to investigate and find out whether there is an organised effort to undermine the tourism industry by delaying flights.

The Oversight Committee noted that there was a gradual increase in tourist arrivals and constant flight delays would affect tourism badly.

However, CAA officials said the delays were caused by the trade unions.MP Kottegoda said all parties should work together to resolve the existing problems as flight delays would slow down economic recovery.
