June 07 (Daily Mirror) – President Ranil Wickremesinghe has re-appointed General Shavendra Silva as the Chief of Defence Staff
until December 31st.

An extraordinary gazette has been issued extending General Silva’s term as CDS under Section 3 of the Chief of Defence Staff Act, No. 35 of 2009.

General Silva’s new term runs from June 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024.

He was first appointed as Chief of Defence Staff on June 1, 2022.
