CR denies secret meeting with BR

… vows no partnership with those who bankrupted country

Eksath Janaraja Peramuna (EJP) has denied recent speculative reports, particularly on social media, that its leader Champika Ranawaka secretly met SLPP founder Basil Rajapaksa to negotiate a deal ahead of the Presidential Poll.

General Secretary Bandula Chandrasekera emphasised that there was absolutely no basis for claims of a clandestine meeting with Basil Rajapaksa, in the wake of the EJP failing to reach consensus with the SJB and Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa.

Patali Champika Ranawaka formerly of the JHU and 43 Senankaya, contested the last General Election on the SJB ticket but registered his own party with the Election Commission (EC) last year.

Chandrasekera said that the EJP discussed their proposals openly with several parties, including the SJB, though the Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) didn’t respond to their move.Chandrasekera reiterated that the EJP wouldn’t enter into a dialogue with those who had caused the economic downfall, hence no discussion with the SLPP at any level.

The EJP leader recently voted with the SJB-led Opposition against the Sri Lanka Electricity (Amendment) Bill. Lawmaker Ranawaka was among the group of 59 Opposition MPs which opposed the controversial Bill (SF)
