There will be a regime change in Sri Lanka before May Day of 2024, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) national organiser, MP TIssa Attanayaka, said in Colombo, yesterday.

“2022 and 2023 ushered in great troubles to the people. Those who are responsible for these troubles have now set up a phony national government to delay elections,” he said.

Attanayaka added that Ranil Wickremesinghe was working with Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MPs who were directly responsible for the current economic crisis, faced by the country.

“After coming to power, the President formed a government with SLPP MPs, and a few turncoats from the SJB. They call this a national government. Almost a year later, nothing good has come out of it and people still want elections. So, in a bid to delay elections indefinitely, the President has again asked the Opposition to join a national unity government. If the President thinks that we will form a coalition with the crooks in the government, he is very much mistaken,” he said.
